Tyson Fury says he is”ready for war” with Deontay Wilder in February despite worries the severe cuts suffered in his heavyweight win over Otto Wallin will delay their bout.
Talking to BBC Sport as he was ushered through the airport in Las Vegas on Sunday, the 31-year British fighter stated”only over 40 stitches” were needed for two cuts endured from Wallin on Saturday.
“I went into the hospital, then had a couple of stitches, went home and had an early night,” he said.
“Then I’ve got up, gone to the match , won five grand, had a few beers and today I’m likely to have a couple more beers.”
Fury sported and he stopped for photos , while his team were eager to get him at McCarran International Airport.
The Manchester-born fighter fought for over nine rounds while trimming at the T-Mobile Arena and received a second cut.
If Fury doesn’t heal 28, the injury motivated promoter Frank Warren to say a projected 22 February rematch with WBC world winner Wilder may be postponed.
Asked about a delay, Fury stated:”I am ready for war. I believe that it was just over 40 stitches indoors and out with the cuts.
“Listen I’m all perfect. It is boxing. You can not go swimming and not get wet. It is the battle game”
The promoters in the united states of fury have since affirmed he’d 47 stitches in most subsequent to the bout, in despite being broadly written off which Wallin took Fury to 12 rounds.
In his fifth battle back since returning to the sport, Fury accommodated throughout the fight.
Asked if this type of test would improve him before any Wilder meeting, he replied:”100 percent – 12 rounds will bring me to the next battle.
“I believed it was not hard. He’s a tough guy Wallin.
“We put on a fantastic show for the Mexican fans and we have a gigantic audience, I was very amazed.”
