Third favorite with a few bookmakers for the William Hill Ayr Gold Cup, danzeno, is not likely to take his opportunity.
With little rain prediction and the floor drying out, coach Mick Appleby anxieties conditions are Saturday’s Heritage Handicap against him.
While it is a blow for connections, provided the eight-year-old has returned to something approaching his very best form this season, Appleby is content to wait around for conditions.
“I really don’t think he’s likely to go, now the floor has dried up,” said Appleby.
“He’d have conducted if the ground has been good to tender. But it looks like it’s going to be good to company, and when that.
“It’s a true shame, because I think he would have had a really good chance as he has come right back to shape.
“I have nothing special in mind, (but) you will find a fair few races within the next few weeks we can take a look at to him.”
